Fred Johnson and Mike Male, both Air Traffic controllers involved in training and simulation, founded Micro Nav in 1988, believing they could improve controller training through simulation.
Micro Nav created a leading international ATC simulation product in FIRST, Flexible Independent Radar Skills Trainer. Following a successful decade, Fred and Mike started to develop the next generation of ATC simulators, launching BEST, Beginning to End for Simulation and Training, in 1998.
BEST is Micro Nav’s single-solution product developed by controllers, for controllers, covering all types and levels of civil and military ATC. The product is customisable, scalable and flexible, ensuring it can meet requirements and budgets.
“From two ATCOs starting a business in 1988, to being an award-winning simulation specialist, celebrating 30 successful years with a world-wide customer base, is a huge achievement. This achievement is supported by an amazing team of experts in their field and the company’s continuing belief in building long-term relationships with its customers,” says Mike Male, Founder and Non-Executive Director.
Micro Nav is an award-winning leading specialist developer and supplier of Air Traffic Control and Air Battle Management simulators and training systems, with 52 unique customers across 64 sites in 38 countries.
Activities to celebrate Micro Nav’s achievement have taken place throughout the year, most notably a reception during World ATM Congress Madrid, the launch of a history wall at the Micro Nav’s offices attended by all staff and the founders and Directors, as well as an anniversary dinner celebrating with our customers during the BEST User Group in Bournemouth.
Stephen Williams, Managing Director, says: “We at Micro Nav would like to thank our loyal customer base, both old and new. We believe that our friendly approach, our flexibility in being able to provide a customisable solution for each of our customers, and the continuous efforts to improve our product, supported by our excellent team, is the secret of our success. We look forward to continuing for the next 30 years.”
