We're seeking an experienced SME Instructor to join our team, reporting directly to the SME Instructor Lead. This role serves as our Company Focal Point for Air Traffic Management expertise, civil and military. This key customer facing representative role requires an ethos for high service quality and very positive end user satisfaction as a key driver in all aspects of the job. The successful candidate will be responsible for ATM requirements definition and provision of subject matter expertise, ensuring that Micro Nav products and services are, where appropriate, consistent with current international practices and conventions. You will provide training on Micro Nav products and services to customers and Micro Nav personnel, and act as the link between Micro Nav’s customers and engineering staff to facilitate properly articulated customer specifications.
• To maintain a current knowledge of international civil and military ATC procedures and techniques as adapted and applied in operational use, whether for Aerodrome, Approach or Area application.
• To maintain an overall knowledge of military Air Defence / Fighter Control techniques and capabilities to ensure that MNL’s Fighter Control product remains fit for purpose.
• To maintain a good understanding of ICAO Doc 4444 and PAN OPS for aircraft operations, as amended, and as they apply to the performance and functionality of ATC simulation tools.
• To maintain awareness of both Eurocontrol and FAA regional strategies for future ATM.
• To develop and maintain a good understanding of the specific capabilities of the Micro Nav products, Micro Nav product competition, and to identify product development opportunities.
• To ensure that Micro Nav developments are in accordance with the design definition and Customer requirements, operate as intended and are fit for purpose.
• To ensure that key data items in support of Customer requirements (airspace, airfields, aircraft performance and modelling) are accurate and correctly specified.
• To identify areas where the Micro Nav products can be enhanced to improve Customer useability from a simulation perspective.
• To support the Micro Nav Sales and Marketing team in the completion and validation of bid compliancy statements with respect to system functionality and ATC simulation capability.
• To support the Micro Nav Sales and Marketing team in demonstrations/presentations and other customer-centred activities.
• To support the Micro Nav bid and proposal team in the analysis of customer and potential customer RFPs and bid requirement specifications, and to assist the software development team to build accurate development resource and cost assumptions for bids.
• To support the Micro Nav Operations / Projects team in articulating planned developments in support of Customer Requirements; to include direct participation in Preliminary/Critical Design Reviews and Factory Acceptance Testing.
• To coordinate with current Micro Nav customers as directed, to ensure that the customer functional requirements are properly understood, articulated and specified for the Micro Nav software development team.
• To assess engineering change proposals for the bid team to ensure accurate costing and pricing.
• To provide advice and consultation support in ATC operational practice and conventions, to Micro Nav company departments as required.
• To report key industry developments to the Micro Nav management team.
• To provide ATC Induction training to new Micro Nav staff members.
• To assist the Training Team, as required, in the delivery of core Micro Nav in house training.
• Ensuring, in conjunction with Engineering, that appropriate specifications are created for all proposed development activities.
• To represent MNL during on-site activities (mainly requirements gathering activities).
• To act, in conjunction with the Project Manager, as the point of liaison between the Customer and Engineering during the requirements elicitation/clarification phase(s).
• To obtain, in conjunction with the Project Manager, Customer agreement of the Functional Specification.
• To review Solution Analysis documents to ensure that they address all of the higher level FRs and that the proposed solution meets both customer needs and also any identified internal needs.
• To ensure that specification data is maintained and controlled within the requirements of the MNL QMS.
• To comply with the Company QMS.
• To complete UK and overseas travel in order to deliver Micro Nav BEST simulator related training courses.
• To determine the training necessary to operate BEST (and its associated products) in its various forms.
• To maintain a set of courseware that provides different levels of training targeted at different categories of users and develops in line with product advances\enhancements.
• To undertake continued professional development to ensure the skills and knowledge in the areas of ATM, ABM and Airside Operations remain up to date.
• To write Training Plans (including the definition of the syllabus for specific courses) which deliver against internal and external customer requirements and expectations.
• To complete bid compliance statements with respect to customer simulation training requirements and to develop training estimates in accordance with the Micro Nav bid processes.
• To support the Micro Nav Sales and Marketing team with exhibitions /demonstrations/presentations and other customer-centric sales activities.
• To identify opportunities (to the Sales and Marketing team) for Micro Nav to sell additional training or related services.
• To support the training evaluation process and ensure customer satisfaction feedback is elicited and recorded from training course attendees.
• To hold or to have held an Air Traffic Controller License or equivalent authorised qualification.
• Proven managerial, organisational and planning skills.
• Ability to work to ISO 9001 standards.
• Experience/knowledge of training methods and techniques.
• Experience/knowledge of BEST and other Micro Nav products.
• Experience/knowledge of the MS Office suite of applications.
• Must be able to travel to Customer sites globally.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
• Competence in the use of PC based systems.
• Good standard of education with excellent standard of written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
• ATC operational experience as a licensed (or equivalent) Air Traffic Controller.
• Exposure to International ATC practices.
• Proven experience in a customer-facing or customer role and development of documented customer real time ATC requirements.
• Exposure to systems and/or procedures development activities in a simulation environment.
• Experience as adviser or consultant in the application of international ATC procedures and practices.
• A recognised qualification in learning and development is desired.
• Experience of ATC training requirements and ATC simulation.
